New! Full Potential Scholarship

Full Potential Scholarship - will be awarded to up to 20 students with a documented learning disability who are applying to University/College in Canada. Students can apply here until March 6, 2025 at 1:00PM EST.The scholarship awards students $1,000 each year as well as 40 hours of tutoring credits in the first year and then the hours reduce to 30, 20, and 10 in the subsequent years (renewable up to 4 years). New! Hydrocephalus Canada National Scholarship

Hydrocephalus Canada National Scholarship is currently accepting applications for the Dr. E. Bruce Hendrick Scholarship program for students with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus planning on post-secondary studies! New! Schulich Builders Scholarship

Exciting scholarship news for grade 12s pursuing skilled trades programs at nearby colleges next year!

The Schulich Builders Scholarship will cover tuition, tools and living expenses for students enrolling in a skilled trade program. Priority will be given to students nominated by their high school. Students may also apply directly through participating colleges:  Algonquin, Centennial, Conestoga, Durham, Fanshawe, George Brown, Humber, Loyalist, Mohawk, and Sheridan!

Each college will award 10 scholarships per year:

New! The Thomas C. Flanagan S.C. Scholarship

The Thomas C. Flanagan S.C. Scholarship - The $2000 scholarship is for individuals who identify as women from racialized and/or Indigenous communities who express an interest in joining the Ottawa Police. The application is found at the bottom of the page and closes February 28. 

New! Young Courage Award 2025

The Young Courage Award, an International Award for Moral Courage introduced in Sweden in 2015 by the Raoul Wallenberg Academy to commemorate the altruistic deeds carried out by Swedish Diplomat Raoul Wallenberg in the final years of WWII when he saved tens of thousands of Jews.

 

The award is a non-political recognition with the aim to highlight actions of moral courage. The recipient(s) will have the opportunity to travel to Sweden for the official Award Ceremony, meet other recipients from other countries and to “travel in the footsteps of Raoul Wallenberg” in Stockholm. Travel expenses, including hotel stay for the recipient and a parent, depending on the age of the recipient, will be covered, and organized by the Embassy.

 

Who can Nominate and be Nominated?

Young people between the ages of 13-20 years old, who with small resources, have made a great human difference and have shown evidence of moral courage and commitment.

 

Nominations can be submitted by a teacher nominating a student, parents nominating a child, a sports club nominating a club mate, or friends nominating each other. It is the action and the degree of civil courage that is assessed.

 

How can I Nominate?

Submit your nominations by sending an email to: event.ottawa@gov.se with the subject line “Young Courage Award”. Include a motivation for why you think your candidate should receive the Young Courage Award in 100 words or less. Potential recipients will be notified in late May.

 

How can I spread the word?

The Embassy will publish several social media posts between the end of January until the end of March which schools and/or individuals are welcome to promote and share. The Embassy is also happy to distribute posters for online and offline use. Please send an email to asa.corneliusson@gov.se if you would be interested in receiving posters.

 

Important Dates:

April 30–May 10: The first jury meeting in Sweden with the external jury takes place at the end of April, after which the embassies inform the candidates if they have moved on to the next step and ask them to briefly answer some additional questions.

May 22 (approx.): The Embassy is informed by the Raoul Wallenberg Academy of who has been selected. The Embassy in Ottawa informs the Canadian recipient.

August 25 (approx.): The recipient arrives in Stockholm.

August 27: Raoul Wallenberg Day and Award Ceremony.

August 28 (approx.): Return journey.

New! Zonta Club of Ottawa

Zonta Club of Ottawa - This club offers 2 scholarships to young women: the Young Women in Public Affairs Award and the Jean M. Coon Award.  Applications are due by March 15, 2025 and more information and the application can be found here. 

Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation

There are 25 bursaries available - each valued at $6,000. The funds can be used to cover the cost of tuition and related expenses such as books, supplies or living expenses. The bursaries are intended for students who can demonstrate financial need, and whose financial need may make it difficult for them to access post-secondary education. Students must be the first generation in their family to attend post-secondary education.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible to apply, students must:

*First generation post-secondary education students are students whose parents did not attend post-secondary education (i.e. did not attend either college or university).

Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation - Ilana and Steven Rubin Education Scholarship

An education scholarship, valued at $1,800, open to High School students graduating in 2023 and then going on to university, college, or a higher institution of learning that provides programs of at least two years or more. Students applying for the scholarship must graduate from high school with grades averaging between 60%-79% for Grades 11 and 12 combined.

Schulich Leader Scholarship

The Schulich Leader Scholarships 2025 nomination deadline is January 29, 2025.


A scholarship of $80,000-$100,000 will be awarded to up to 100 students across the country, who plan to attend one of their 20 partner universities.
