Dual Credit

A unique opportunity for Grade 11 and 12 students

  • Is your child interested in going to College or University?

  • Do they plan on going directly to the workplace?

  • Do they want to earn additional credits in Grade 11 or 12?

  • Are they unsure if College or University is right for them?

If they answered yes to any of these questions, the Algonquin Dual Credit program is worth considering. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore possible career pathways before spending thousands of dollars on a path they may not be sure about.

The Dual Credit program is a partnership between OCSB & Algonquin College. It allows secondary school students to simultaneously earn college credits while they are still enrolled in high school. These credits can count towards both their high school diploma and postsecondary education.

Students can earn up to four Dual Credits. Courses are offered in a variety of subject areas such as Psychology, English, Math for the Trades, Business, Public Safety and Arts & Design.

The Dual Credit Program builds student confidence and allows students to experience college before having to pay for it. All costs for the program are covered (tuition, bus passes, parking fees and equipment requirements such as text books).

There have been hundreds of OCSB students who have successfully complete Dual Credit courses. We continue to hear great feedback from our students that were enrolled in the program. If you require additional information or would like to apply for a Dual Credit course please contact your Guidance counsellor for more information.
